Weekend listening: “New York Steam 1” and the oldest sound in the universe

In the American Museum of Natural History in New York there’s an exhibit which features the electromagnetic wave created by the Big Bang, turned into audio: the oldest sound in the universe.

Inevitably, I had to record this sound on my phone.

You can hear it one minute and ten seconds into the montage below.

Curiously, the oldest sound in the universe sounds a lot like New York…
